Since the transition in 1989, Poland has had one of the most exciting literary scenes in the new Europe. But while the most prominent writers - Milosz, Szymborska, Zagajewski - are familiar to American readers, very little work by less-translated and younger writers has been available in English.

Chicago Review’s newest special issue published this fall, is the first survey of new polish writing. And at 400 pages, with over 75 contributors, unlimited by genre, generation, or school, it is by far the most comprehensive ever published.

To celebrate this publication, Guild Complex will host a release party featuring readings by five writers, including poet Piotr Sommer and Fiction writer Natasza Goerke. This event is co-sponsored with the Kosciuszko Foundation, and American Center for Polish Culture.
