While the literary voices of US Puerto Rican poets and fiction writers and of their Chicano/a counterparts on the West Coast and in the Southwest have been anthologized, duly canonized and even main-streamed by the Anglo literary market, very little is heard about Latino/a writers from the midwest.

Featuring Poets Teresa Vazquez is an Afro-Cuban woman born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She has a B.A. in Creative Writing from Oberlin College and works as an Arts Administrator for the Association for the advancement of Creative Musicians. (AACM) Johanny Paz was born and raise in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has lived in the Chicago area for the past 30 years. Collazo studied Communications and Literature and the Universtiy of Illinois Chiago. Aide Rodriguez recieved B.A. degrees in Sociology and History from the University of Michigan in 1999. While in Ann Arbor, she was an active participant in the A.Dinges and M. Lawrence Open Mic Sessions. Guild Complex Women Writers Series is supported in part by the Girls Best Friend Foundation, Illinois Arts Council, Cheney Foundation and Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs.
