What is the Rule of Four? 1. This summer's blockbuster novel. 2. A new emphasis in the calculus reform movement. 3. A fundamental tenet of judicial philosophy. 4. Four great poets at the Guild Complex. ANSWER: All of the above. Tonight we feature four poets who like each other's work and who like each other.

We hope you'll bring three friends and form your own rule of four.

Lorraine Harrell is an award-winning poet, playwright, filmmaker, essayist, author and entrepreneur. Born and ralsed In Chicago, Lorraine is the Grand Prize Winner of the McDonald's 1989 Literary Achievement Award, a recipient of an Illinois Arts Council Grant, and the Mary Roberts Rinehart Grant in poetry. Her Empowerment for Life, Inc. agency offers seminars and Consulting services in mentoring, life skills, self-esteem and the arts.

Jeanne Towns is the recipient of numerous grants From the Illinois Arts Council, the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and Poets and Writers.

Marvin Tate is an accomplished poet, writer, author and bandleader. His work has been heard on This American Llfe (NPR) , the McNeil/Lehrer News Hour and at the Nuyorican Poefs Cafe (New York). He has one book of poetry, Schoolyard of Broken Oreams |Tia Chucha Press), is founder of D-Settlement, a hip hop/funk/spoken Word ensemble, and is working on his CD Group Sex.

Eduardo Arocho, a poet born and raised in Humboldt Park, has been a vibrant presence in the Chicago poetry scene for more than a decade. His publications include Power Lines: A Decade of Poetry from Chicago's Guild Complex [Tia Chucha Press. 1999) and Open Fist:An Antbology of Young Illinois Poets [Tia Chucha Press. 1993).
