Literary evening with Mircea Catarescu Archipelago Books

Oct 14th 7pm - Archipelago Books presents Mircea Cărtărescu in Chicago to celebrate the forthcoming publication of his powerful, phantasmagoric novel Blinding, published for the first time in English by Archipelago Books. Hailed by Die Zeit as a “literary coup,” Blinding was one of the most widely heralded literary sensations in contemporary Romania, and a bestseller from the day of its release.  Tonight's discussion will be lead by Jesse Ball a prize winning novelist and poet, the author of the forthcoming Silence Once Begun with Pantheon Books, as well as many other novels, books of verse, and books of prose.  Seminary Co-Op Bookstore will have Mr. Cărtărescu's book available for purchase.

Mircea Cărtărescu, poet, novelist, and essayist, is the winner of the 2000 Romanian Writers' Association Prize, the 2011 Vilenica Prize, the 2012 Haus der Kulteren der Welt International Literature Prize, the 2012 Berlin International Prize for Literature, the 2013 Swiss Leuk Spycher Preis and the Serbian Grand Prize for International Poetry in Novi Sad.
