Tue April 24th 7pm - DKF Cornelia presents a live music and film show featuring Katy Carr, an acclaimed London-based performer and songwriter of Polish origin.

The first half of the evening with Katy Carr includes a film screening of ‘Kazik and The Kommander’s Car,’ a 25 minute documentary about a Polish boy scout, Kazimierz Piechowski, who made a daring escape from Auschwitz in 1942. The film is produced by Katy Carr and directed by Hannah Lovell. Katy Carr’s song about the escape provides the soundtrack for parts of the film.
A reception compliments of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago follows.

The second half will feature a live performance by Katy Carr of contemporary arrangements themed on the era of the 1940s, as well as British and Polish hits from that time period.    Most of Katy’s musical compositions are directly inspired by themes, stories and characters from 1940s Britain, France and Poland.

Boasting a wide variety of performances from The Royal Opera House to Glastonbury music festival together with regular appearances on BBC radio, this eccentric and eclectic performer delivers her self -penned folk songs with verve and humor.   She has self released three albums on her label Deluce Recordings: ‘Screwing Lies’ in 2001, ‘Passion Play’ in 2003, and ‘Coquette’ in 2009, which has received four and five star reviews in the mainstream and music press.  Katy Carr was nominated for the London Music Award 2012.
