Tonight students will read from their work developed in creative writing classes lead by instructor Barry McRaith.
McRaith has been an instructor for YCA for the past three years. He grew up in Evanston and is in his 12th year of teaching. He holds a B.S. from the University of Miami, an M.A. in English from Northwestern, and a M.E.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Words used to describe the 50+ students include gritty, sensual, acerbic, thought provoking, provocative, irreverent and reverent. In other words, all the vivant contrast that are so immediate for kids their age.
These YCA free Tuesday night events are especially, but not exclusively, for youth, teens and teachers. We encourage teachers to bring groups of students to listen and to share their work ant the open mic.
