11/11/1998 - 11/11/1998

Quraysh Ali Lansana, a widely published poet, educator and cultural activist, will be featured.

His chapbook, "Cockroach Children: corner poems and street songs" was published by Nappyhead Press, and "Southside Rain", a full-length book of poetry is forthcoming from Blackwords/Alexander Publishing Group. His work may also be found on audio cassette and video. He works extensively throughout the Chicago Public Schools. He is the Director of Kuntu Drama, Inc., a Black Arts Collective and also sits on the Board of the Guild Complex.

These YCA free Tuesday night events are especially, but not exclusively, for youth, teens and teachers. We encourage teachers to bring groups of students to listen and to share their work at the open mic.
