Set in a working-class Chicago neighborhood after World War II, the story follows a young boy transfixed by Chopin's music and the occasional boogie-woogie tunes drifting from the apartment above his family's flat. There, the mysterious Marcy practices piano late into the night while the boy's eccentric grandfather, Dzia-Dzia, shares stories of exile, hardship, and the unlikely wonders of Chopin.
