Walkabout Theater Company returns to Chicago with the production that launched the company in 1999: Poor Poor Lear, by Nina Sallinen and Katja Krohn Original direction by Katja Krohn, Chicago Direction by Kristan Schmidt. Running March 12-15 at Chopin Theatre.

In this darkly comic solo piece, Nina Sallinen plays a 90-year-old Scandinavian theatre grande dame staging King Lear as her final farewell–only to uncover uncomfortable parallels between the play and her own family life.

Poor Poor Lear runs 90 minutes with no intermission. Performances are Thu-Sat at 7:00pm and Sun at 3:00pm.

Nina Sallinen (Playwright / Performer) - is an actress and writer from Finland who has worked extensively in Europe, Chicago, and Los Angeles. She currently resides in Los Angeles and has performed with The Odyssey Theatre, Geffen Playhouse, The Road Theatre Company, and Pacific Resident Theatre.

Kristan Schmidt (Director) - is a director, creator, and producer of new theatrical works with more than 30 years of experience. She co-founded Walkabout Theater in Chicago in 1999.
