Wed Oct 19th 730p - The Consulate General of Lithuania in Chicago is please to present Lithuanian songwriter, poet and philospher Mindaugas Briedis for an evening of mystic traditional Bardic music fused with American Folk and World Groove improvisitional rhythms.    Mindauguas is accompanied by Lithuanian multi instrumentalist Ausrine Garsonaite whom, in keeping with the Chopin Salon tradition, will perform a short recital featuring works of F. Chopin. 

Mindaugas Briedis – philosopher (PhD) and song-writer from Vilnius, Lithuania keeps alive the Bardic tradition which he understands as the oscillation between pure poetry and language/expression experiments. Similarly his music gravitates from traditional author’s songs genre, a la folk-rock arrangements to alternative acoustics.

In 2008 Lithuanian Academy of Science recognized him as a leading young scholar in the category of Humane and Social Sciences.  He has published several books of poetry and is currently promiting his second album "Time and Food”.

For this U.S. tour he has prepared songs composed of Lithuanian and English poetry in collaboration with Chicago poet and philosopher Steven Schroeder. (http://www.bestiariumas.lt/pirmas/bestiariumo/grotuvas).
