The freshest new sound to come out of jazz-hip Poland in quite a while can be heard at the Chopin Theatre when three boys in their teens hit the Main Stage. Triology, a trio that grew out of a serendipitous meeting at a jazz workshop conducted in Poland in 1998 by noted clarinetist and teacher Brad Terry, who noticed their almost miraculous connection as both musicians and budding friends.
Three classically trained music students with well-defined musical personalities, they have already been individually honored at many Polish and international competitions. They also share a passion for jazz, and have created a new and unique ensemble voice. Triology will bring its innovative style and uncanny ensemble work to a rich repertoire of standards, contemporary tunes, and original compositions, with Mateusz Kolakowski, 15, on piano, MichalBaranski, 17, on acoustic bass, Tomek Torres, 17,on drums, and their mentor Brad Terry occasionally pitching in.
