House of the Exquisite Corpse Rough House Theatre

Oct 7 - 30

From Rough House Theatre - "House of the Exquisite Corpse was the product of countless ingredients. It is a spooky pot-luck of passion, hope and faith.

The Process: Rough House invited a group of artists whose work we admire to each make a haunted peep-show. Few of these artists identify as primarily "puppeteers." Each team was given a budget, as well as editorial control. We met several times- sometimes in person, often on screens- and shared our works-in-progress until the time came to kill our darlings, put a fork in it, and open the doors for our first public audience in nearly 2 years.

Each puppet box ran nightly between 18 and 22 times with few breaks- that's more than 220 shows over 4 weekends"

This October, descend into the HOUSE OF THE EXQUISITE CORPSE, an all-new immersive anthology of horror told through peep-show puppetry. Rough House has assembled six teams of Chicago's most ingenious puppet artists to concoct six unique visions of intimate horror. Brave the halls of a cursed and ancient house to peer through keyholes, cracks, and hidden doors to discover surreal worlds that will terrify and amaze.

Through puppetry, sound, performance art, movement, and illusion, EXQUISITE CORPSE will horrify and enrapture. An evolution of Rough House's sold-out HARROW HOUSE , this new immersive experience beckons you to gaze into nightmares you won't soon forget. Audiences beware. Some of these nightmares gaze back.
