How do creative people, artists, musicians, writers, dancers, who are often positioned as outsiders, participate in civic life and the important decisions that determine local, regional and national leadership.

Where is the intersection of creative life and civic life? Tonight we invite you to an evening of performance by Eileen Cherry- Chandler, Collaboraction Theater and Flutter. Participation is just proof of voter registration.

Creative America is a non-partisan effort to inspire and train artists and creative leaders to run for local office in 2006. More information is online at www.creativeamerica.us.

Tom Tresser, an arts actlvist and director of Creative America, organizes support for pro-arts candidates and makes the case for developing a Creativity platform with high-level candidates.

Dr. Eileen Cherry-Chandler, Asst. Prof. of Communication at DePaul University, has had a long-standing career as an arts activist, performer and writer in Chicago. A specialist in interdisciplinary arts education and a performance scholar currently working with students in the areas of autobiographical performance and spoken word, her award-winning poetry and fiction have appeared in numerous literary journals.

Flutter combines Christine lngaldson's dark pop, techno, shoe-gazer and indie rock sound with Paul Determan's extens!ve background in underground dance music. 700% Unnatural webzine calls them "a collusion between pop and punk that channeLs ali the spunk, if not the actual sound, of the original New Wave." Ms- Ingaldson is also active with other musicians working to get out the vote through Voting with the Underground.
