Film screening commemorating the beginning of 2nd World War II.

Among the thousands of dates commemorating the high points and the lowest depths of human history, Sept. 1st should hold one of the most important places. It is the anniversary of the beginning of the deadliest conflict on our planet, which had been foreshadowed by the "peaceful" take-over of small countries, and then exploded into open war when Germany, without warning, invaded Poland on Sept. 1st 1939.

In honoring this date we are reminded that even in an enlightened age, it was possible for over 60 million men and women and children, soldiers and civilians, to be killed as a result of cold calculation, with many more suffering physically and emotionally.

In our times of preemptive wars and nuclear capacities as well as environmental and economical global demands, the lessons of Sept. 1st should be quite valuable.

This moving and heroic film is in Polish and features many beautiful and inspiring songs which the audience can Sing-a-long with.
