Out at Sea @ Crushers Chicago Chopin Theatre

Tue Dec 1th @ 5p - Chopin Theatre presents Slawomir  Mrozek’s “Out at Sea”, an extremely smart and brilliantly absurd comedy about 4 people stranded on a raft trying, through various social and political manipulations, to decide whom they can justly devour.  There are many different interpretations of this comedy most of them very relevant to the upcoming Presidential election.

Chopin Theatre is touring this one-act production.  “Out at Sea” has already been staged at Indiana University Northwest, Northern Illinois University, Loyola University’s Lakeshore Campus, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago High School for the Arts, and Studio Gang Architects.  Coming soon to an unexpected, intimate location near you!

This 2015 production is supported in part by Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago, WPB SSA#33 and Chopin Theatre.

Slawomir Mrozek (1930 – 2013) is perhaps the most important playwright of the 20th century and a massive contributor to the Theater of the Absurd.  Though most of his works were written in Poland during the Cold War, they are as poignant and resonant in our contemporary socio-political environment of manufactured consent as they were then!
