Part science fiction, part thriller, part study of the politics of radicalism ? and filmed with the gritty cinema-verite style of sixties documentary ? Ice (1969, 135 min., 16 mm) is legendary filmmaker Robert Kramer?s own version of Alphaville.

The story follows an underground revolutionary group as its members fight among themselves while they engage in urban guerrilla attacks against a fascist regime in the United States. Kramer interrupts the fictional events with rhetorical sequences that explain the philosophy of radical action. The film is an honest critique of the revolutionary movement of young Americans during the sixties and the complex issues surrounding radical reform.
