Toronto based John Porter is a prolific filmmaker and performer who works almost exclusively in Super-8 and has made over 250 innovative films to date.

His works fall mainly into two categories: Porter?s Condensed Rituals, which exploit the animating/time exposure capacities of his camera, and Camera Dances, which take advantage of the lightness and mobility of super-8. Tonight's program includes the films Santa Claus Parade (1976), Landscape (1977), Mother and Child (1977), Exams (1982), Tartan Tattoo (1978), Amusement Park 91978-79), Firefly (1980), Angel Baby (1979), Down on me (1981), Cinefuge (1974-81), The List of Bicycle Messenger (1994), and Toy Catlogue (Reel 1) (1981-96); and the performances Shootout with Rebecca (1983), Revolving Restaurant (1981), Animal in Motion (1981), and Scanning (1983).
