Chicago Filmmakers is pleased to present a premiere of a new video by long-time Chicago artist Tom Palazzolo.

Down Clark Street (1997, 55 min.) is a personal documentary portrait of a street, its people, and the artist, tracing the changes brought about by time and growth. The Clark Street area serves as a microcosm for the larger city, where the unique and idiosyncratic character of individual neighborhoods is slowly effaced, replaced by a gentrified uniformity. On one level, Down Clark Street is a nostalgic reminiscence of the art?s early days in 1960?s Chicago. On a deeper level, it is a chronicle of a time past and a compassionate (sometime humorous, sometimes sad) remembrance of the invisible, forgotten people who populate the artist?s world. Also on the program is a Sneak Preview of another new work by Tom Palazzolo.
